Funkia Snake Eyes (Hosta Snake Eyes) is a variety that grows up to 120 cm. This perennial is ideal for planting in shady places. It grows perfectly under trees, fills empty shaded spaces in flowerbeds, and looks great in a group together with other Hosta varieties. It is extremely decorative with leaves that are three-colored - an oblong, mosaic-like stripe in light green and white runs through the center of the leaf, and is edged with dark green. Hostas are characterized by growth in the form of a clump and large, heart-shaped leaves. Bell-shaped lilac flowers are set on erect shoots, and bloom in June and July.

It grows well in any position - in sun, shade and partial shade, in permeable, moist soil. These perennials like to be planted under walls and surrounded by water - a pond, stream or pond. If you choose a sunny place, remember to water the plant more often.

Planting occurs in the spring - in late April and early May. The bulbs are placed to a depth of approx. 6-8 cm at intervals of approx. 30-40 cm. It looks great in a group and is perfect for covering a larger area in the garden. It is also a beautiful decoration of the terrace or balcony planted in a pot. These perennials grow well for many years in the same place.

Funkies are low maintenance plants. Just provide them with a moist substrate and regularly remove dead leaves. When watering, remember not to get the leaves wet to avoid burns or fungal infection. Hostas are resistant to most diseases and pests, but the exception is the snails that like them and eagerly gnaw the leaves.

Host fertilization is not necessary, but it causes nicer coloring and better leaf growth. It is best to provide them with nutrients in the spring, being careful not to over-fertilize them, as they are sensitive to too much nitrogen - they become sensitive and do not stain properly. In the case of funkia, organic fertilization works great, as it is safe and effective. The last fertilization should be done no later than at the beginning of August, so that the plant has time to go to rest for the winter period. Too late fertilization of hostas reduces their frost resistance and exposes them to freezing.
