Gladiolus - Yellow Frans Swordtail - 7 pcs.
Description
Location
Swordtails require a sunny and sheltered position.
Soil
They prefer fertile, humus soil, rich in nutrients (compost, manure, mineral fertilizers), with neutral or slightly acidic pH.
Planting
Swordtails should be planted at the end of April and the beginning of May with a spacing of 8-10 cm and a depth of 8-10 cm. Swordtails planted too shallowly may be exposed to lack of water, and they also break off more easily during windy weather.
Care
Swordtails require watering during dry periods. The tubers are not frost hardy, so before the first frost they should be dug out. On poorer soils, we should feed them with compound fertilizers every 2-3 weeks, the last time at the beginning of blooming. The bushy inflorescences need to be supported.
Storage
The tubers should be dug in the second half of September and in October. After digging up the tubers, cut off the stems and dry them for a few days in an airy room or in the sun. After drying, the tuber should be cleaned. Over the winter we store in a cool, well-ventilated place at a temperature of about 5 degrees Celsius.
