Lemongrass 'East Indian' (Cymbopogan flexuosus) is a very interesting, exotic plant, which is cultivated as an annual plant in our climate. During the season, it can be grown in the ground, and in autumn and winter transferred to pots and provide rest at a temperature of about 10C. It grows up to 100 cm, forms long, lanceolate leaves that give off a pleasant lemon-ginger aroma and spicy-spicy taste. It is an addition to various kinds of Far Eastern dishes or infusions. Lemongrass oil repels mosquitoes, flies and other insects.
'East Indian' lemongrass will grow optimally if we provide it with fresh nutrient-rich soil. It requires a stand in full sun, sheltered from cold winds. In spring and summer, it can be grown in the ground, and for the winter moved to a bright and cool room. Because it grows very expansively it requires a break.
