Description
Stevia 'Sweet Honey' (Stevia rebaudiana) is a very valuable plant grown as a natural substitute for sugar and artificial sweeteners. It is estimated to be about 300 times sweeter than sugar and contains no calories! A teaspoon of powdered stevia corresponds to a glass of sugar. Its leaves have a specific sweet taste with a slight aftertaste of greens. It grows very lush and is extremely efficient. It can be consumed raw, as a sweetener, e.g. for tea, sweeten preparations, e.g. jams, dried or used for hot dishes. Suitable for growing in the ground and in pots. It grows up to about 30 cm tall.
Stevia should be grown in very sunny places - the more sun, the sweeter the taste. Prefers a permeable, fertile and constantly moist substrate.
